 | How long has the bookstore been in La Paz? |
This is our first year of business - we opened the store in the summer of
2007.
| How do you determine which books to stock? |
We use a variety of methods. We look for recommendations from the
American Booksellers Association (ABA - the national trade association for
independent booksellers), review current selections on the Book Sense
website, read critical book reviews, and listen to our customers.
| Can I order books from you? |
Yes, we can order most books for you so that you can pick them up at the
store. However, because of import delays and custom requirements, it
sometimes takes a month or more to receive books. If you have the
patience and long-term interest in a specific book, we will be happy to
order it for you.
| Can I order books online? |
Sorry, we are not offering online service at this time.
| Will you be holding literary events at your store? |
Yes. We held a Saturday's children's story time for several weeks
but have recently discontinued it . In March, we hosted "Room for
One More," a miniature arts show. In the future we plan to host book signings by
local authors as well as other book-related events. Check our Events
page for news.
| How does Allende Books support the La Paz community? |
Allende Books provides the community with greater access to English
language books. We also provide opportunities to learn English as a second
language, for example through the children's story time. We are exploring the
future possibility of hosting adult bilingual conversation
groups. We help in other small ways as opportunities present
themselves. For example, Allende Books donated a raffle prize for the
December 2007 Club Cruceros Subasta.
